This is the Alaska Department of Fish and Game in King Salmon with an update for Egegik District commercial fishers. The time of this update is 6:00 p.m. and the date is Tuesday, June 20, 2006.
Escapement counts at the Egegik Tower through 1600 on June 20 are 3012 sockeye salmon. On the afternoon of June 20, an aerial survey of the Egegik lagoon estimated 28,000 fish were present. With an anticipated surplus of 8.2 million fish potentially available for harvest a commercial fishing period is warranted. For set gill net fishers commercial fishing shall be allowed from 7:30 p.m. Wednesday June 21 until 3:30 a.m. Thursday June 22,…. an 8 hour period. For drift gill net fishers commercial fishing shall be allowed from 8:00 p.m. Wednesday June 21 until 12:00 a.m. Thursday June 22…… a four hour period.
